Install Moovida in openSUSE
Click this 1-click installer hosted by packman to install Moovida on openSUSE 11.1/11.0/10.3
This should download the YMP file and automatically launch the YaST package manager to add the required Repositories, download and install Moovida and the dependencies. Click next on the Moovida installation screen and Next again on the installation proposal window. This should start adding the required repositories, download and install Moovida and its required dependencies. Click Finish when the installation completes successfully.
This should install Moovida under “Applications – Multimedia – Audio Player”.
When you launch Moovida, scroll to the left of the window to “Devices & Shares” to select your devices and or stores from your local or network systems to scan for your audio, video, picture files etc. This should scan for all the media types under these stores and list them. From there on, you should be able to select files from the library and create/modify your playlists etc.
The plugin architecture allows add-ons to enhance features for Moovida. A few examples are the Youtube, Flickr, grooveshark plugins that allows viewing online videos, pictures, audio etc.
The interface of Moovida is so smooth and elegant, I have to admit this has to be one of the best, if not the best Media Center I have seen. Click here to visit the project home.
Troubleshoot startup problems:
Moovida may crash when you try to start after successful installation. When you try to start from the terminal window, you may be faced with the following error message:
saihari@opensuse11:/usr/lib> moovida

This error seems to be caused by the library file libgstffmpeg.so . To resolve the problem, simply rename the file libgstffmpeg.so under /usr/lib64/gstreamer-0.10/ or /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/ (in 32-bit version).
Launches but crashes under openSUSE 11.1 w/KDE 4.2.4 (x86).
The one click install for yast on the page above contains an error when installing the package ….. any other sites with moovida installs???
Using opensuse 11.1 , moovida starts but doesnt open, renamed file to libgstffmpegfix.so and still nothing
It’s an amazing piece of software. It’s really something to show off with. But for my six year old pc a bit too much. Using it was not smoothless: long waiting times.
It has been removed from PackMan
